Türkiye & Suriye Earthquake Relief
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
On 6 February at 4:17 am, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Türkiye and Syria. As the death toll from the 6 February earthquake disaster topped 45,000 in Türkiye, UN development experts said that 1.5 million people have been made homeless in the south of the country, where at least 500,000 new homes will need to be built.
The MU Music Department has decided to dedicate the upcoming Symphony Orchestra concert, conducted by Dr. Averbach- the director of MU Orchestral Studies and a member of the International Faculty and Staff Association at Miami (IFSAM)- in solidarity with the victims of the earthquakes. The concert will take place on March 9th at 7:30 pm. A fundraising bake sale organized by members of IFSAM Turkish professors will take place in the Green Room during the concert intermission. The concert is FREE, open to the public, and will be live-streamed. All proceeds from the event will be donated to support the victims.
All the money will be donated to Ahbap.org and United Nations food program.
