UMass Workers & Families Suddenly Evicted
Donation protected
We are raising money to help offset the shock, discomfort, and displacement borne by Assistant Residence Directors at UMass Amherst who faced eviction this past weekend due to the ongoing needs of quarantine space on campus.
The administration gave out a short eviction notice to some of the on campus employees. In short, they were asked to pack and leave their living space over the weekend so the building they were living in can serve as a quarantine site. Notably, some of them live in the Residential halls with their family members. The sudden unplanned change during the semester is taking a toll on the employees and their families.
While the feeling of instability and distress is uncompensable, we are asking the community to contribute and extend support for the families being impacted. We want to make sure the impacted families get the things they need to ease this transition in this hard time.
Any amount is appreciated and will be a significant gesture towards continuing to build the many incredible communities we have at UMass, between unions, and beyond the campus.
