help me study at UNCW in 2025

Hi! My name is Sofia Pellegrino, I’m 17 years old and I was raised and born in Brasil but in 2019 I moved to Portugal where I currently live.

In the beginning of this year I was accepted at my dream school, University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW).

In august of 2023 I had the opportunity to spend a year in the United States as an international student.

I spent my junior year at Enloe Magnet High School in Raleigh, North Carolina where I created so many special friends and memories.

During my year there I found out about UNCW and fell in love immediately - since then I’ve been doing the impossible to be able to proceed my academic journey there.

In January of 2024 I found out about my acceptance at UNCW to study psychology.

I’ve been applying for scholarships and although they are very competitive and only 10% of the students are awarded with them I was given a 5K scholarship a year during my time at UNCW and that being the highest price awarded.

Unfortunately that doesn’t even cover 50% of the tuition, once the cost of attendance is around 40k.

Although me and my family don’t go through any necessities, affording my years at UNCW is completely out of our reality.

I worked really hard to conquer all of these and I am very proud to see how far I got - UNCW is my top and only choice and the place where I see myself making the difference and reaching my dreams.
