With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Umar Abdullah (Tobias Taitt), who returned to his Creator on Monday, 16th September 2024.

Brother Umar was not just a member of our community; he was a beacon of light and inspiration, tirelessly working for the cause of dawah and bringing people together. His vision laid the foundation for the ‘Dawah table’ concept in the early 90s, and he played a pivotal role in establishing Chiswick W4 Jumuah, a place of worship and unity for over a decade. His contributions, both seen and unseen, have touched countless lives and will continue to shape the future long after his passing.

Brother Umar leaves behind his beloved wife and six children—three sons and three daughters—who are now navigating this immense loss. The youngest of his children is only 15 years old. Brother Umar was the primary breadwinner for his family, and they are now facing financial hardship during this incredibly difficult time.

As we grieve, we come together to honour his memory by supporting his family. The funds raised here will be used to cover funeral expenses and provide financial assistance to his wife and children. I, Waseem Riaz, am a close friend and community member of Brother Umar and his family. The funds raised will be transferred directly to his family’s bank account to support them through this trying period. This is our chance to give back to the family of a man who gave so much to us.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reminded us: “Whoever relieves a believer of a hardship in this world, Allah will relieve them of a hardship on the Day of Judgement.” [Sahih Muslim]

May Allah, the Most Merciful, grant him the highest ranks in Jannatul Firdaus and shower His blessings upon those who contribute and keep his family in their prayers.
