Hurricane Beryl: Union Island Disaster Relief Fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nathalie Forde and I'm writing to you on behalf of the Union Island Community, as we gear to begin work to support this beautiful island affected by this natural disaster.
As you may be aware, Hurricane Beryl recently wreaked havoc on Union Island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The devastation caused by this disaster has been overwhelming, with countless homes destroyed, infrastructure severely damaged, and many residents left without basic necessities such as food, clean water, and shelter. Our beloved family the Forde's, Wilsons, and the Stewarts have lost everything-their homes were completely destroyed, and they now face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch.
In light of these tragic circumstances, we are launching a fundraising campaign to support the immediate and long-term needs of those affected by Hurricane Beryl. We urgently need your help to provide essential aid and resources to the people of Union Island. Your generous contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of those struggling to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of this catastrophe.
The road to recovery is long and arduous, but with your support, we can help them and the community take the first steps towards regaining some sense of normalcy. The funds raised will be allocated to obtaining essential supplies and materials to aid in their recovery process
We are seeking donations in two forms:
Monetary Donations: Financial contributions will allow us to quickly mobilize resources and provide direct assistance where it is needed most. Your donation will help us supply emergency relief kits, rebuild homes, restore vital infrastructure, and support recovery efforts.
Material Donations: In addition to monetary support, we are also in need of specific materials to aid in the relief efforts. These include non-perishable food items, bottled water, medical supplies, clothing, blankets, and construction materials such as lumber, nails, and roofing supplies. Every item donated will go directly to those in need and help them rebuild their lives.
To make a monetary donation, please donate here with any amount you can, as every penny counts. For material donations, please contact me directly to arrange drop-off or pick-up.
We understand that these are challenging times for everyone, and any support you can provide, no matter the size, will be deeply appreciated. Your kindness and generosity will provide hope and relief to the resilient people of Union Island as they work to recover from this devastating event.
100% of all donations will be dedicated to rebuilding our community. Your generous contributions will be used to provide essential resources, including food, medical supplies, and construction materials.
Ensuring that the funds reach those in need is our top priority. Here's how we plan to deliver the funds from Canada to Union Island:
Partnerships with Local Organizations:
We will partner with reputable local non-profit organizations and community groups in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Union Island. These organizations have a deep understanding of the community needs and a proven track record of effective aid distribution.
Direct Bank Transfers:
Funds will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of our partner organizations, in addition to family members who are travelling by boat between St. Vincent and Union Island, currently taking supplies down to aid in the relief. This ensures that the money is received promptly and securely.
Regular Monitoring and Reporting:
We will closely monitor the utilization of the funds through regular updates from our partners. Detailed reports on how the funds are being spent will be provided to maintain transparency and accountability.
Documentation and Updates:
We're committed to keeping our donors informed about the impact of their contributions. Regular updates, photos, and stories from the ground will be shared to showcase the difference your donations are making.
Thank you for your compassion and support. Together, we can make a difference and help Union Island rebuild stronger than ever.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Nathalie Forde
P.S. Please feel free to share this letter with friends, family, and colleagues who may also wish to contribute to our relief efforts. Every act of kindness brings us one step closer to recovery.
