Theatre Project

A part of the journey for Unison is securing a gathering space for worship and a visible presence in the community we so eagerly desire to impact. We have been in the elementary school since we launched in April. In our search for a more permanent space, we have found absolutely no available lease options appropriate for our use so we have turned our attention toward a purchase: more recently, aggressively discerning the potential of acquiring this space above. It is the old Four Star Theatre / Night Club / Joy Youth Center / Abandoned building three doors north of the Burton and Division intersection. It is an amazing space with a lot of great potential.

This historic landmark has sat vacant for the better part of a decade. Both the city of Grand Rapids and local Neighborhood Association are eager to see some positive community influence coming from this space. An innovative and exciting local church, breathing life into this part of the city would do wonders for sparking involvement, enthusiasm and a sense of pride in the community. What a great opportunity to inject some culture and positivity into a portion of the city where prostitution and drug dealing are the norm.

Like ALL of the available buildings in the area, it will require quite a bit of work. The exterior of the theatre is sound and well intact. The interior, however, is in need of a complete renovation. Years of neglect have certainly taken its toll on this previously beautiful space. We believe we can restore this space to its former aesthetic glory but more importantly welcome the Glory of the Lord into this space. We would like you to be a part of seeing this vision come to life.
