Urbie Green Memorial Fundraiser
If you are a fan of Jazz, you may be well aware of the artistry of my father, Urbie Green. He is a legendary Trombonist and has had a career that can only be compared to those top performers who came before him; a career that has inspired millions and brought joy to so many.
In his early days, he was a prodigy and went on the road to support his family during the Great Depression. After being scouted and joining Big Bands, he played with the likes of Benny Goodman, Gene Krupa, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Frank Sinatra.
We had set up a prior fundraiser to help Urbie, when at age 92, he was having multiple health problems. This helped greatly, and allowed him to remain comfortable during the last year and a half.
It is with heavy hearts that our family must now relay the news of Urbie's passing. He died peacefully during sleep on December 31st, 2018. We have started this new fundraiser to help offset the costs of funeral and memorial services.
A private funeral will be organized in the near future with plans for a larger public memorial to come sometime down the road. We will update this page with details periodically.
Warm regards,
~ The Green Family
