Urgent surgery needed due to implant rupture

Hello world! Our names are Jamie and Janna, and we are the daughters of our loving mother Cherrie. It has come to a point in our lives where we have decided to reach out to the general public on social media in order to gain some support! Our mom is too embarrassed to have to be so transparent, but her situation has become too much, for herself and for us. We are so grateful for the opportunity to be able to ask for help in such a unique way!

Twenty-four years ago, our mother decided to get breast implants in order to lift self-morale after having two kids and going through a divorce. At that time, she was told it was very safe, FDA approved, and that they would last a lifetime. There were no warnings out at the time or proven information about all the toxic chemicals that enter your body after the implants begin to break down, or when they rupture. Fast forward to 2019, an implant has ruptured, is making our mother very sick, and we now know that “safe” is not the case.

We have all been through a lot considering our mothers medical history and the unknown causes of her issues.  We want to give a little bit of insight to her past.  Six years after she got the implants (when my sister and I were 12 and 16) my mom started having neurological issues in addition to constant shooting pains in her breasts. Ever since we can remember our mom has had medical issues, and has been in and out of the hospital, but despite everything we have been through she has always maintained a positive attitude and a grateful heart!  Juggling two kids as a single mother and working multiple jobs while also dealing with strange illnesses, viruses and multiple misleading diagnosis, we can honestly say that she is our hero.

The main symptoms she has had to endure are-  severe weakness (mostly on the right side of her body) with a difference in temperature, severe stabbing head pains and muscle spasms- which in turn caused her to have long multiple years of testing and MRI'S that she had to pay for out of pocket - because she has multiple preexisting medical issues, insurance companies would not cover her. (she did not know that the breast implants were already causing health issues within her body). Demyelination was discovered in her brain, and about seven years into the demyelinating, she started having more unexplained medical issues with her memory, heart (circulatory issues), and digestive issues, in addition to the sharp shooting pains in her head, neck, shoulders and breasts. She was also having multiple issues with her balance and her auto immune system was being attacked and compromised. Can you imagine the frustration of having all of these symptoms and taking all of these tests with no solid results, and not even considering that it could be your breast implants?!

Later our mom was  diagnosed with Anticardiolipin syndrome and the possibility of Multiple Sclerosis (the doctor told her she would probably never be able to enjoy anything that required balancing again, but she kept pushing forward, refusing to accept that. With multiple preexisting issues, she was once again denied insurance coverage up until three years ago when she was able to get marketplace coverage.

After a spinal tap that I remember so vividly because I helped  take care of her at the age of 14 , she could not even sit up in her bed for five days without having excruciating pain; MS was ruled out, but because the demyelinating was still going on, the expensive testing continued as well as the heavy burden of medical debt. She then had debilitating migraines for 5 long years, so severe she could only sleep them off and the prescriptions she was given just made them worse. She would have episodes in the night, that would send electrical shocks down her spine and the next day she would be so wiped out, it affected her ability to work full time and to take care of us. She kept going through multiple neurological tests, blood work, seeing specialist after specialist, but there was no further diagnosis. A second neurologist finally told her he couldn't do anything else for her, and he didn't know what was causing the demyelinating symptoms.

By this time, all my mother’s savings were gone, and credit cards were the only option to pay for the continued testing. She is still paying them off, with some help from us! This might be an overload of information but we are just trying to be as transparent as possible and give the reader a good outlook to out mothers background.

In 2015, to top off everything else that had been going on in our lives, she became the full-time advocate for my special needs aunt and paid for her expenses to move her from Arkansas to Texas after our grandfather died of multiple strokes. Our mother also took care of him after his first stroke 6 weeks after our grandma passed away from cancer. Aunt Trudy was born with cerebral palsy, is mentally challenged, legally blind, and has frequent seizures. Our mother makes all her medical decisions and accompanies her to specialists and hospital and works full time.

She is currently working as a nanny for a corporate caregiver agency at (age 63) because it is one of the few jobs that she can uphold with the frequent doctors’ visits and auto immune symptoms that debilitate her. One of the many downfalls of this job is that there are no health benefits to take time off, but at the same time, the flexibility of this job allows her the opportunity to be with our aunt during medical procedures, as well as medical testing of her own. She works 8-10-hour days at 13.50 an hour. If you can imagine, the medical debt is not going anywhere anytime soon. Sometimes as a result of the children she is caring for who have fevers, she is exposed to unknown viruses and she ends up having to go to work sick. She added a second job last year, working weekends as a hostess for 8.50 an hour. It is absolutely devastating to the both of us to watch our beautiful, wonderful, full of love and light mama struggle so much. We both try to help with payments towards doctors’ visits or supplementing for her rent, but we cannot afford to take on these pressures any longer at this point in time.

She does not have the benefits of sick pay, so she is needing 3 weeks of income for surgery recovery time. Baylor's medical staff informed her that if her blood pressure rises after the surgery from exertion, it can cause bleeding in the breast cavity. She will not be able to drive for one week or pick up anything (especially children) for up for 3 weeks. My sister and I do not live in the same state as our mother; we are all spread out now as the years have gone by and we can't afford to fly back and take off work to assist her. She needs all the help she can get. Six weeks should result in a full recovery.

Keep in mind, we are just trying to raise enough money for her to get these toxic implants out of her body. She is NOT trying to get her breast implants redone! We are only trying to do what is medically necessary because she is being poisoned by this everyday!!

We did find out recently that insurance WILL cover the cost of removal, and we are so grateful- but we need the money for the deductible and consultation first, and then $ to cover the cost of her recovery.
Any donation you could make would mean the world to us! Thank you for your compassion.
