Vulnerable Citizen Support Welfare Service

Vulnerable Citizen Support is a CIC that was set up in order to combat social issues, poverty and homelessness within Leeds and the surrounding areas. Set up, not only to provide a food and baby bank, but as a friendly support network for the vulnerable with a goal to build 3 ISO container self-contained, private, secure homes for a homeless person and their pet or a vulnerable young person who is temporarily homeless. Many homeless, rightly so, would never leave their best mate meaning they’re loyalty is rewarded by a lifetime on the street. With the average life expectancy of a rough sleeper in the UK being 47 we don’t think that’s how society should reward loyalty!

Vulnerable Citizens Support is rasing money in order to feed any vulnerable person that asks us or is referred to us. Be that simply a hot meal or 5 days healthy food parcel for them and their family. To provide nappies and baby milk for any child in need. To build an Iso-container Home Village to provide temporary accommodation for vulnerable young people made homeless or for the many street homeless people and their pets. To work towards buying a food truck so that we can supply mobile hot food to the most vulnerable in our society. At Vulnerable Citizen Support we are always running low on staples. This is why funding is necessary, we need cash donations to cover the company’s overheads that make all this possible. We are a non-profit organisation, all funds raised go towards stocking the shelves and keeping the service going. We deliver to anyone who is in need; not only the isolated, the elderly, disabled or homeless but also those on benefits, the self-employed and those on zero-hours contracts or facing unemployment. Anyone that is in NEED or simply having a cash flow problem will be welcome with no judgment or obligation to pay or third-party referral needed. We will endeavour to make every parcel as balanced, rationed and pragmatic as we can in order to feed everyone in the household for at least three days. If we can add any treats, toys, pet food or luxuries or anything to keep up moral we will!! All we need from you is a name, address, phone number and number of people in your household. However, please be mindful that at Vulnerable Citizen Support our mission is to prioritise food parcels for those most in need first-hand.

Vulnerable Citizen Support, in light of COVID-19, will be expanding from a food and baby bank to a “pay as you feel” foodbank and hygiene products delivery service. With all of us expected to self-isolate sometime in the future and the elderly expected to be alone for up to four months, coupled with school closures and business’ really struggling, means that the most vulnerable in this city will rise considerably and really need our help. This service seeks to mitigate that, it means those most vulnerable people in Leeds are getting precisely what they need, straight to their door, with no obligation to pay a single penny or having to worry about transport! We’ll be Powered by love, volunteers and time but most importantly, donations of food, sanitary and hygiene products.  Food will be left in a safe place with minimal physical contact, this is needed in order to keep our volunteers and the service user safe.  However, at Vulnerable Citizen Support, amid panic buying and foodbank closures and with the current Coronavirus crisis we are all now swimming in one direction, and that direction is feeding destitute families. We have already fed and supplied hundreds of families, their children and their pets; including making sure children get the baby milk and nappies they desperately need! We also supply hundreds of hot meals to the Homeless in Leeds. We desperately need food and hygiene products and have been stocking the shelves out of our own personal pockets, which is increasingly hard to do. Let us all show everyone what a community can do in a crisis! Let’s get those ISO containers built as a symbol of our community, let us amaze everyone and show what Leeds can do and give a human being their lives and dignity back. We’ll keep going as long as we have food to give out! Thank you for your love and support.
