Join Village of Love and Resistance (VOLAR) as we celebrate Juneteenth in 2022. We are radically engaging in trauma-informed redevelopment, which requires acknowledging and healing the legacy of decades of the structural violence of uneven development. While we organize to control land and housing, we take the time to breathe and heal through mindfulness practices and exercise. We are clear that we must take the time to heal our minds and body to achieve individual and collective liberation.
VOLAR is acquiring a strip of land from the city of Baltimore (601 Ensor Street) to create a People’s Meditative Garden with an exercise hub and space for gathering.

As we celebrate freedom for Black descendant people from enslavement in the US, we invite you to continue this road of healing with us. The People’s Meditative Garden will be a sacred space, a freedom zone for continued recovery from the generational trauma of government-sanctioned white supremacy, patriarchy, and classist and colonizing laws and policies. Together we can heal all this and step into true freedom.
