Veteran and wife face illness and amputation

Hi, my name is Michael, and I'm raising funds for my dad, Gary Stover and step-mom, Carol. Gary is a Vietnam Vet, loving husband, hard-working and caring father, and doting Grandfather. He was recently diagnosed with tongue/neck cancer, for which he is in the middle of radiation and chemo therapy. At the same time, Carol, his loving wife, strong mother, and adoring Gramma, was stricken with a rare skin disorder, necro-fasciitis, which almost killed her. She was in the hospital for 60 days as of this writing, and she required amputation of her leg.

 

Gary and Carol have always gone above and beyond to take the shirts off their backs to help anyone they could. They have fostered and adopted many stray animals, and humans. Many a person, family or friend, has found a warm bed, safe haven and hot meal in their home over the years. In fact, they haven't ever really had an "empty nest" in all of their years...and truly, I believe it is their calling in life. They may not have much, but what they have, they gladly share with whomever they can.

 

With all the being said, the Stovers face a long, expensive, painstaking recovery ahead, both medically and financially. After decades of helping others, they can use any help available, to help make their home more accessible after Carol returns home from the hospital and rehab.
