Vicki is Turning 50!

Vicki Weiss the owner of the Mathis House is turning 50 and this is her birthday request .

The Historic Mathis House, circa 1898,  is a Bed & Breakfast and Victorian Tea Room in Downtown Toms River that is a business that is
standing the test of times during the pandemic.  The owner of the business, Vicki Weiss, formed the Mathis House LLC in November 2019 six months prior to the outbreak of COVID 19.  Prior to the closure of all businesses across the Nation, the Mathis House was a thriving location for travelers from all over the world that would visit the centrally located Bed & Breakfast for visits to the Jersey shore and day trips to Princeton, New York City, and Philadelphia. 

The tea room, voted one of the best in New Jersey, had reservations & bookings for showers, weddings, events and tea time for nearly up to a year.  Once Covid hit, the overwhelming amount of cancellations and refunds totaled up to $40,000 in one day!  Mrs. Weiss refunded all future deposits and bookings or gave a two year travel voucher to the more understanding guests that had plans to visit the Inn.  

The business closed the Bed & Breakfast until the re-open in July which caused havoc on the businesses cash flow.  The tea room last
March also closed until Mrs. Weiss put a farm stand within one week in the back of the Inn that sold fresh vegetables, soups, salads and the Mathis House's Famous Scones.  The business also shifted to boxing up a five course tea service for take out for the locals of Toms River that wanted to see the Mathis House survive.  The process of all the changes were stressful due to the intensive labor required to open a new revenue stream, the demands of rising costs due to the purchase of take out supplies, outdoor furniture, tents, Covid mandated signage and safety equipment.  

This request for the Go Fund Me for the purchase of new restaurant equipment that total the amount of $25,000 that will be used to
purchase a new fire suppression system for the kitchen, install grease traps in the floor of the kitchen, install a new ice maker, and install a new commercial dishwasher.  The business must improve the kitchen equipment in order to start providing dinner service at the
Bed & Breakfast.  With the capacity of seating constraints the business can not make the equipment purchases and must make them in order to survive.  

With each donation of at least $39.00 that we receive, we will offer a gift card match that may be used at the B&B for tea service for one.

the operations of the business will be able to provide the community with the
experience of enjoying the wonderful history and events that bring visitors to our community.
