Border Action: Nutrition for Families
Donation protected
Waking Giants is raising money to support the nutritional needs of asylum seekers at the Texas / Mexico border. Preparing a warm meal and having control over the food you feed your family when you are in crisis can make a really significant impact on how the family, especially the kids, process the trauma of displacement.
Refugees and migrants are, by nature, innovators. We can see this in a very tangible way through the creation and use of mud stoves and open-air kitchens in Matamoros, Mexico, on the other side of Brownsville, Texas, where a tent city of over 2000 displaced migrants is growing by the day.
In collaboration with Gaby Zavala, Sera Bonds will be leading a trip to Brownsville in late November. We are hoping to reach $1500 to take there and put directly to work helping to enable migrant families to feed their kids.
