'When The Rain Stops Falling' Fundraiser

Donation protected

Hello!

We are the The Kindling Collective: a non-profit, ensemble-led theatre company with a passion for physical storytelling, and a dream to challenge the ways in which artists rehearse and refine their skills.

We like to rehearse a little differently than most, feeling that the 'process' should be prioritised above all else in the professional world. We've discovered through our own ongoing research that this in fact creates the most interesting, visceral work, yet most importantly, it also empowers engaged artists with a sense of freedom and trust.

Above all else, we're interested in making work of the highest calibre without sacrificing 'safe spaces' or the wellbeing of our artists.

Why crowdfunding, and why now?
As a new, non-profit company, we have self-funded all development up until this point. However, as we prepare to stage our very first production "When The Rain Stops Falling" in London, late September 2019, we're faced with huge financial hurdles - ones we sadly cannot tackle on our own to get this important first production off the ground.

Thus far, we've applied for funding/grants through Arts Council England and Stage One Producing Company, both of which are under review. We'll also be hosting a fundraising showcase on September 1 with numbers from top West End and Off West End performers, including exclusive previews of our own work - more on this soon.

Now, with approximately 6 weeks to production, we are reaching out to you to ensure we can not only realise the show to its full potential, but also ensure that all involved are appropriately and fairly compensated for their work. With our other funding avenues still pending, this has never felt more urgent or important!

We are fortunate to have a wonderful support network as two Australian creatives in London - one that spans across the northern and southern hemispheres, and we'd love to include you in our journey. It is our hope that this debut production with give us the kickstart we need to not only tour future productions, but to engage in outreach and develop a much bigger legacy in the theatre world.

Where will this production be on?

We've been lucky enough to be granted the rights from Andrew Bovell to perform When The Rain Stops Falling at The Lion and the Unicorn Theatre in Kentish Town.

Who/What benefits from these donations?

The greatest and most important aspect of our fundraising concerns our engaged artists, both cast and crew, who will be working tirelessly over the month of September to not only develop the show but also stage it to a high standard throughout every performance.

We don't believe in asking artists to work for free - it is neither fair nor sustainable, and thus we are  working around the clock to ensure that our team will be supported.

Our target here factors in not only cast/crew wages at Equity rates, but also a handful of additional overheads, such as hire of the theatre space, and getting our team to our 'Residency Venue' in rural France for 2 weeks of intensive, September rehearsals  - a space which as been donated to us as 'support in kind' to prepare the production at heavily reduced costs...

Your donation would mean the absolute world to our project, ensuring our actors/designers/technicians are able to engage and really make a splash for Kindling Collective's first show.
