10 Ghanaian Grandmas Need A Well
Donation protected
The Mission
Our goal is to eliminate hunger and provide a sustainable source of nutrition and income for these 10 women and their families living in rural Damongo (the small town and capital of West Gonja district in the Northern Region of north Ghana in West Africa).
In Damongo, these women are organized by a very optimistic school teacher; that's Majeed; standing at right in the photo above.
How You Can Help
You can help the Grandmas create and run a collaborative farm located on a 3-acre plot of land. Funds are needed for:
well . seed and saplings . barn, storage and maintenance
Why It Matters
This fundraiser is very personal. What started years ago as a conversation has blossomed into a family friendship with 10 Ghanaian women determined to create a sustainable local economy. This isn't just a way to help a friend or even families in another country, it's a way to give back and honor everyone who has ever helped us reach our personal and career goals. We can't imagine the kind of poverty ravaging these families in Damongo. Nor do we know how they find the strength to keep going and keep their families together; but they do. Their effort deserves recognition and support.
Thank you
Thank you for taking the time to read our campaign and support our cause. We've never been deeply poor but it gives us great personal joy to help alleviate it. We are overjoyed to have your help--and believe it will bring you great personal satisfaction, too.
