People who use wheelchairs experience a lot of struggles, even in their own home, on a daily basis. Yet, one of the largest struggles is community involvement due to lack of transportation. The cost of transportation options for persons who use wheelchairs is very prohibiting, running in excess of $60,000 per vehicle.
People who use wheelchairs comprise about 1% of the general population, estimated to be about 800 persons in the community of Lawrence, Kansas. This is one small example of what is experienced in community after community across the nation, and estimated to be double this percentage in other parts of the world. There are enough people who use wheelchairs to justify a service that will tailor to this group specifically.
Using the above cost factor, just for the community of Lawrence, Kansas, for every person who uses a wheelchair to have personal and accessible transportation, the cost would be $48 million. There is a better solution.
We! GO hopes to be the best solution. We! GO, realizing the incredible need, has become a non profit corporation. We! GO!! Transportation Corporation is official as a 501(c)(3). We are currently able to receive tax deductible donations.
This GoFundMe site is specifically set up for tax deductible donations.
We! GO will also continue as a for profit to ensure opportunities for everyone to participate. The non profit status recognizes that some persons who use wheelchairs may experience limited income. This hopes to integrate opportunities.
Being a faith based entrepreneurial idea, faith does not discriminate. Faith makes all things possible. Including transportation opportunities that open doors for people who use wheelchairs.
Thank you for my friend who helped determine the financial goal for this GoFundMe story. The vision is that this GoFundMe story is ongoing. The opportunity to serve is huge and the eventual goal is to have 10 vehicles per community to supply a much needed service while providing jobs that will boost the economy. Therefore, as opportunities grow, so will the vision. We! GO formulators understand that these times present questions. Some have struggled with job and financial situations. If timing isn't appropriate right now, please know that we believe grace is on you for whatever you can or can't do to financially support this campaign presently.
Your tax-deductible donations mean even more right now because of special incentives. Please prayerfully consider taking advantage of this moment to donate to We! GO.
The goal to help persons who use wheelchairs to experience freedom in a variety of social arenas is a worthy goal. You have friends, and even family in many cases, who use wheelchairs. You've said it yourself "there needs to be something". And, every one of us, by the grace of God, will be in senior years where driving becomes more difficult. For many, it becomes hard to give up the keys because the keys have meant freedom. This tremendously special segment of the general population are honored members of society, and the freedom available to this special group of people is valued by We! GO. Freedom can be a much safer experience for this group with We! GO, poised to serve them in continuing the sense of freedom they've known throughout their lives, to come and go as they like to.

We! GO!! Transportation Corporation May 2020
Today's news is of thousands of people dying from COVID-19, the coronavirus. It seemed pertinent, in light of the current social atmosphere, to share a few words regarding the future of We! GO!!
It is thoroughly understood that the future of many indices today are in question and that organizations, corporations, businesses large and small are evaluating futures. Since We! GO!! has been in formative stages before and through this current crisis, taking time to specifically assess our future is important.
The main focus of We! GO is to help normalize life for persons use wheelchairs. This has been the hope and driving force behind this campaign, ever since one person, Julie, begin to catch the vision for helping others like herself to experience life and social opportunity and more in a more full and broader capacity.
Realizing transportation is one of the biggest obstacles persons who use wheelchairs face, the vision is of a society that will open to and receive persons who are physically different, but very much in need of opportunity.
This leads to the statement that everyone is physically different. Everyone needs opportunity. People who use wheelchairs are an important part of the group called "everyone".
COVID-19, the coronavirus, is slashing at everyone, and those who use wheelchairs are particularly at risk in this crisis. As are the elderly, as are healthcare workers. As is everyone who comes in contact with this difficult crisis headline, headlong.
Yes, because of already compromised immunities and lung capacities, persons who use wheelchairs are at risk. Should people with these kinds of compromised sensitivities be part of normal society?
I believe that there is an appropriate timing for this potential. There has always been an appropriate timing for We! GO. The hope is still very real that this crisis will be eliminated. The physical effects will fall away and we will be left with a new and deeply impacted society.
We! GO is a faith based entrepreneurial adventure, believing in hope of God's love to reach even the last. Even me, even you. Hope doesn't become incapable because physical prospects are limited. And if a new and deeply impacted society doesn't hope in a way that welcomes those who are hurting because of physical differences, this deeply impacted society may face greater evils, maybe the evils within of calling others less important.
Physical differences might be opportunity for greater things. Jesus said greater things than these will you do. Can we define this based on what we've known?
We! GO is attempting to define this as freedom for persons who use wheelchairs. Today, in this COVID-19 coronavirus episode, lockdown has been nearly globally. For centuries, in the case of persons who use wheelchairs, lockdown has been too common. Parallels might be drawn from this, that the world is experiencing some of the limitations that persons who use wheelchairs have experienced for centuries, for far too long.
As the air, literally, begins to clear, WE hope with We! GO that centuries will turn into the chase to give others the same opportunities the rest of society experiences. To succeed. To fail. To become all God wants in every breath.
Please be part of this worthy, lockdown shattering, goal.
