Support Kat's Family in Their Time of Need

On September 20, 2024, this world lost a remarkable human being, Kat Lakey. Kat was killed on their scooter in Portland on Friday afternoon driving home from the grocery store.

Kat was a fiercely loyal friend who came at life with their best self. Kat was the kind of person who set a higher bar for everyone around them. Kat taught us the importance of showing up for one another in times of celebration and solidarity; mourning and healing; and resistance in the face of injustice. Knowing Kat was out there helped so many of us feel safer as we navigated the world because we knew we had a friend who had our back.

Kat cared deeply about the natural world and lived for the time they got in the forest and being in or near bodies of water.

Kat’s sudden passing is a tragic loss to their friends, family, and so many communities who loved, knew, and stood alongside them.
