I'm setting up this page for my sister Wendi, who is 55 years old. Some of you know her and some of you don't. For those who don't, she has had her own pet sitting business for years and has always worked very hard for everything she has. She is a very caring and giving person who is always there to help someone out if and when she can. Here is her story. My sister was diagnosed with ulcerated colitis years ago and back in 2003, she had to have surgery because of it and had to have 3 feet of her intestines removed and her bowels reconstructed. She barely made it through the recovery but pulled through with all her strength... she has always been a very strong fighter. Since that surgery she has always suffered with pain from time to time and still does, up until this very day. Back in June of 2014, my sister had a consistent cough and went to the doctor to get it checked out, they did an Xray that lead to an MRI, which lead to many other tests. After waiting patiently, and wondering what was going on for about 2 weeks, she had finally received the news and she was diagnosed with stage four melanoma....yes, just like that, scary as hell!!! My whole family was devastated beyond belief, scared to death and prayed alot!!! She then started treatments in which she would have had in four sessions, but after only two sessions, she got extremely sick to the point that the doctors refused to give her anymore treatments. Since then she has come a long way and the two treatments have worked miraculously. Her doctors were very happy with her results of her last scan that she had a month ago. After all the good news, and about to be a first time grandmother, she was over joyed with her results. But a week and a half ago she was in alot of pain, to the point in which she was vomitting and demanded her husband to call 911. Remind you, she has a very high tolerance for pain and is in pain quite frequently and usually tolerates it pretty well. So, for her to say "call 911" we knew it was unbearable. After going to the hospital and having tests done, they rushed her to MGH in Boston to have emergency surgery for blockage of her bowel. It was sort of in a looped knot and it could have burst at any time. She is now home from the hospital, she's still in alot of pain and is still very weak and sick from it. Because of Wendi's condition that she is in, she has not been able to work at all and is not sure when she will be able to go back to walking and taking care of her client's dogs. Her recovery is going to be pretty long and with being unable to work, she will not have any income coming in from her business which pays their mortgage and a good portion of their bills. So I am asking for help, something I never thought I would have to do for a family member, but she needs it. Any help at all is more than appreciated. Anything would make a differnce at this point. Thank you so much in advance for reading this.
