Hi! My name is Wes, I’m 20 and I’m nonbinary (they/them). I started my transition when I was 15 and started testosterone in May of 2020. I’ve experienced so many changes that I wanted to obtain from testosterone and it has honestly changed everything for the better, but there are still a couple things that still give me enormous amounts of gender dysphoria. One being my chest.
I was so happy when I got my first binder and loved how it flattened my chest. But binding almost everyday for extended periods of time is very frustrating and tiring. And even though I bind my chest still tends to show through many shirts, which makes me super insecure. The hot weather make it worse since I can’t wear button ups and hoodies that hide my chest very well. I don’t want to have to keep adjusting or wondering if I’m flat enough every second of the day anymore. The depression and other mental health issues that come with my constant gender dysphoria have gotten too much to handle. I’ve finally had enough and I NEED to feel comfortable and happy in my own body.
Unfortunately my insurance only covers HRT, but absolutely no gender affirming surgeries, so I have to pay for everything out of pocket. And this is why I am here asking for any help that can be spared. Whether it be donating to my fundraiser, cash app(), or simply sharing and getting the word out there, I’m very grateful. This is really the last thing I want to do, but I can’t stand to live like this anymore.
I am currently still trying to save as much as I can so I don’t have to ask for too much, but without any help, it will probably take years to save up for the surgery, let alone any fees, anesthesia cost and money I need to support myself while I take off from work during recovery.
