I'm working on a documentary film about sanitation which has the potential to better millions of lives around the world.
The back story:
In the developing world millions of people die simply because they have raw sewage running through their streets. It is really hard to get sewers into urban slums though, because there is no room to get ditch digging machines into crowded neighborhoods. This means that urban slums are ignored, left with no sanitation solution at all.
Since the 1990s Brazil has been experimenting with modifying engineering standards and using community labor to solve the problem of urban sanitation. They have developed a system of “condominial sewage” which has worked well in some places to address this problem. Condominial sewage can also be 40 to 80 % cheaper than traditional sewers. It has the potential to save millions of lives around the world.
I'm making a documentary film on condominial sewage in Brazil. I have already shot the footage for the film and edited it as an academic project. Here is a link to the trailer of the film I made. Because the dollar was so high, I was able to hire a professional film team to shoot for me in Brazil. While we were filming, one of the filmmakers said "This could be a real movie. When you are done with your academic project, let's find the money to get this professionally edited. " So I am now fundraising to hire a professional editor to finish it. Then we can show the film to policy makers and water and sanitation professionals in cities around the world which are struggling to provide sanitation to their urban areas.
I only need less than $1,500 (YAY!!!!!) to have the film edited and to do a color and sound treatment in Brazil to have the film finished. Your contribution can help improve lives all around the globe.
