Windham NH Veterans Monument
Donation protected
Hi - My name is Rourke Curtin from Windham, NH. I am a Life Scout rank with Windham NH BSA Troop 266 pursuing my Eagle Scout rank. I am junior at Windham High School and in addition to being a boy scout - I am cadet in the Air Force Junior ROTC, I play high school lacrosse @ WHS, and I am a member of the St. Matthew's Church and youth group.
My Eagle Scout Project is to install a monument dedicated to all a veterans from my community during its 275 year + history. It will be installed at the Windham Town Common (3 North Lowell Road) as part of the Town Center Beautification Project. The monument will be 40" wide x 8" thick x 30" tall made of Medium Barre Vermont Gray Granite. The monument will display each military branches emblem (Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard) with the MIA-POW emblem, and the American Flag emblem. The inscription will read:
DEDICATED TO THE VETERANS
OF WINDHAM NEW HAMPSHIRE
PAST-PRESENT-FUTURE
FOREVER GRATEFUL
My project will be a benefit to the community because of its central location to render honor to our local veterans. It will be a place of reflection for veterans, family members and the citizens of Windham. The monument could be used for ceremonies for Flag Day, Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, and other community events. There is nothing like this monument in the Windham community dedicated to all Windham veterans.
The estimated cost to complete this project is approximately $3,000.00. I am hoping to raise enough money to complete my project during the Spring of 2018. All monies raised that are left-over from my project will be donated to Windham Beautification Committee in support of completing the Town Center Beautification Project.
Your generosity will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support in helping me earn my Eagle Scout rank. I am very excited about my project and how it will bring attention and appreciation to veterans who have sacrificed so much for all of us.
I would certainly appreciate any donations towards my Eagle Project. You can donate on this page, or if you prefer - send a check - made out to Windham Troop 266 and mail it to me at: P.O.Box 325, Windham, NH 03087
Yours in Scouting,
Rourke L. Curtin
