Windmill Park

Donation protected
Saintfield Development Association have some exciting news...

Residents of Saintfield and district will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of a community heritage park, thanks to the efforts of the Saintfield Development Association, in close cooperation with the Saintfield Heritage Society and a generous donation from a benefactor in the United States.

The intention is to provide a first-class outdoor community asset for local people of all ages and backgrounds. The focus of the park will be on community heritage, where residents can exercise and relax in the outdoors.

Also included will be the industrial heritage around the site - the windmill, watermill and railway. These stories will appeal to both locals and visitors alike. Other panels will tell of the emigration of families from Saintfield to the United States over the last 300 years, using the example of the three Moffett brothers who left Leggygowan for America, the first in 1777, followed by a further two brothers in 1784. It is one of their descendants, David Moffett, who has made this precious community asset possible.

Saintfield Development Association need lots of help to achieve this very ambitious goal and are seeking funding from many different charitable and public bodies.

This is where you come in. As a community we are seeking 100 like minded individuals or groups to raise £500 each.

You can do this however you feel best works for you. Maybe you could organise a sponsored walk, or a garden party, or a pub quiz, barn dance, carwash, dancing event, plant sale..the list is only limited by our imagination.

Saintfield Development Association love to see our community get creative around raising some money.

Please don't do it alone. The whole point of the new community garden and fundraising project is to promote collaboration and communication across age groups, demographics, faiths, political persuasions. Involve your tribe, your people, your club or church. Please use this as a great excuse to bring people together, to help each other.

Saintfield Development Association would love you to be one of the 100 people to organise a fundraisers.

How would you raise £500 to help all of your community.

If you or your club or group are able to help please drop an email to kevin@in-mynd to let us know what you intend to do and how we can support you. We want the whole community to see everyone's effort. We want to make a big deal of celebrating how our community can pull together to help each other.

Thank you for being part of your community.
