Youth Climate Activists' Bail Fund

Donation protected
UPDATE: We've raised enough to cover everyone's bail! Everyone is so grateful for the outpouring of support. Thank you so much. We have increased the goal and all remaining donations will go to supporting these young people's work in the fight against the climate crisis.

On Tuesday, November 13th, over 150 young people joined together to deliver our demands to the newly elected Congress and call out the real obstacle to climate action in this country -- the crisis of failed political leadership.

In peacefully showing our resolve by sitting in, 51 young people were arrested during this action.  Donate to the bail fund of the brave young people who put their bodies on the line.

We peacefully delivered letters, we told our stories, we sang, we chanted and we sat-in at Nancy Pelosi’s office demanding that our Democratic Leadership treat the climate crisis with the seriousness it deserves.  Our demands:

1. Champion a Green Jobs for All platform to guarantee a job to any person who wants one to transform our society and economy over the next decade to stop climate change. Protect the lives of all working people -- black, brown, and white -- from the ravages of disaster and pollution.

2. Mandate that any Democrat in leadership must take the No Fossil Fuel Money pledge and reject campaign contributions from fossil fuel executives and lobbyists and instead prioritize the health of people and planet over industry profits.

It takes courage to put yourself on the line and subject yourself to physical, legal and financial risk for the values we hold.

Now our community needs to have these brave young people’s back.  Join us in raising the $5,000 we need to cover these young people’s bail and legal costs.

Let’s stand with them.  Let’s empower this generation to keep fighting for the future we all deserve.

About me and the plan to get the funds to these young people:

I am an active member of Sunrise Movement and head the New York City chapter. I have been organizing with many of the folks arrested for over a year now, and we spent the weekend in DC together strategizing and building relationships to continue our work into 2019 and 2020.

I have a spreadsheet that has all the names and contact information of those arrested. I am in the process of contacting them all via text to ensure the funds are delivered to them ASAP.
