The Secret Forest Fund

Donation protected
Zain was fortunate to have seen more in his 4 years than most people are able to see in a lifetime. From the Redwood Forests of California to the eastern Appalachian Mountain ranges, Zain loved nature and found beauty in many of life's natural landscape.

If you were lucky, he would quietly whisper the intricate details of his own secret forest in your ear. He would go to his secret forest at night when everyone else was sleeping. It contained dragons and flying stones. Hawks and rabbits and rivers. He was careful not to tell everyone about the secret forest because he knew not everyone could understand.

And only now that he is gone, I can truly understand.

I can see him running in his forest when I close my eyes. I can hear him singing with the birds when I breathe silently. I can feel him loving us from his magical land and waiting for us to join him in his secret forest one day. I can remember the love he placed in all of our hearts.

Zain's tragic passing has changed many things, but his imagination and dreams are beginning to manifest into a reality. Despite their tremendous loss, the family has whole-heartedly decided to honor Zain's passing with service back to those that need love and hope.

Zain found happiness through his imagination, and through his imagination he would share his ideals of love and kindness for all of God's creations. His secret forest was a place where animals were protected against cruelty and where children were safe and sheltered. It was a place where the evils and difficulties of life were overcome by the love of a generous heart.

Our mission has now shifted to a greater cause. Over the next several months we will be working towards creating a non-profit organization to benefit children that have lost a parent, sibling, or caregiver. Our concept is to transform property in East Texas into "A Secret Forest. " A space where children who have lost a parent, caregiver, or sibling have a place for growth and development. Our vision is to provide a variety of activities, workshops and lessons where children will learn how to reconnect with nature and develop intellectually and spiritually through their greiving process. We will provide more details of the organization once non-profit 501c3 status is established.

In the interim, we will be raising an initial $45,000 to start a Donor Advised Fund with the Greater Houston Community Foundation. Once the initial $10,000 is raised, we will then be able to provide the necessary tax-deductible documentation. The  funds will be used to start on minor projects for the property.  Funds will NOT be used for funeral expenses or for personal use. Funds raised will go specifically to developing our envisioned 501C3 non-profit organization, or to a specific charity of the families preference.

Once the Donor Advised Fund is created, we will start fundraising for any additional contributions needed. We are focusing on the initial start-up funds, and will keep everyone updated on the progress of the organization as it develops.

In the event that the creation of a non-profit is unsuccessful, we will provide information on what charity we have chosen to honor Zain's legacy.
