A Bari Sax for my Brother
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jorge Zazueta.
I am currently a senior at Cypress Bay High School in Weston, FL and am looking to raise funds for an instrument for my brother.
My brother and I were fortunate enough to be a part of an incredible band program his freshman year at Carroll High School in Fort Wayne, IN. His time there awarded him many wonderful opportunities, from performing in a State-Champion jazz ensemble to marching in Lucas Oil Stadium. The best award he received from the program, however, was the loving family made of all of the band students and staff. I was personally lucky enough to be a part of this family for nearly three years, but his time in the family was unfortunately and unexpectedly cut rather short when we learned we would be moving halfway into the year.
Being torn away from a band program--a family--is unbelievably tough, as I'm sure many of you can imagine. It took us a long time to come to terms with it, and even longer to adjust to the new school and the new program. Eventually we were able to make the adjustment however, and now he definitely feels at home in a new, loving program and environment with many absolutely amazing friends here at Cypress Bay High School. Just as he was settling in though, we learned of yet another move, this time to a country that doesn't partake in these kinds of band programs.
Moving to a school and a country without band programs meant not only saying goodbye to yet another family, but also to his instrument, as he plays Baritone Saxophone and has to use the school's instrument. Being torn away from your instrument, as I'm sure many of you know, is like being torn away from your voice. It's losing a part of you.
I don't want him to lose a part of himself, and so I want to raise money so that he may continue to have a voice, and even more-so, so that he can continue to pursue a future with this instrument. He is entirely devoted and dedicated to his music, and absolutely nothing in his power could stop him from expressing his love for music through a Bari--I want to make sure nothing out of his power could do that either.
Please, please, please consider a donation, even a small one, to help this dream come true. I would like to be able to present either the instrument or the monetized promise of one to him before we leave, which would be in late June. I know this timeframe is rather short, but every donation helps and I want to do everything in my power to help my Lil Bub.
If you aren't able to donate, I understand, but please share this and pass it along! I can't make this happen on my own, but together we can make his dream come true.
NOTE: for those in the Weston area, the move isn't exactly public news yet, so please keep this on the downlow! Also, I want this to be as much of a surprise as possible for my brother so, again, please be sneaky about sharing this!
