A medical bed for Sarah
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sarah and until 5 years ago I was living a happy, healthy life doing a job that I loved.
Suddenly everything changed for me. I started getting excruciating pain accompanied by spasms, seizures and blurred vision on a daily basis.
I was eventually diagnosed with FND (functional neurological disorder) and dystonia. I now have to use a wheelchair to get around most of the time and my sleep is interrupted by episodes of breathing difficulties (brought on by the seizures) that mean I’m in a vicious cycle of sleep deprivation, never sleeping for more than an hour at a time. My partner has had to give up work and become my full-time carer and I rely heavily on him, especially at night when my breathing sometimes stops.
Due to my breathing problems at night, I’m in need of a medically appropriate bed that can keep me propped up in a safe position, so that I don’t stop breathing, turn blue and frighten the life out of my poor partner.
They’re very expensive though, about £10K!, so I'm reaching out in the hope that you can help me raise the money I need.
I don't like to ask, but if you could spare any amount, however small, it would help me get closer to my target and be very much appreciated.
If you are able to help in any way, thank you.
Any money left over after buying the bed will be donated to The Brain Charity (UK Reg. Charity No: 1114999).
