A Better Home For Masjid Al-Hikmah

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We pray that this message receives you well.
This page was created to raise awareness about Al-Hikmah Center (also known as Darul Hikmah), an Islamic centre based in Toronto.
The Muslim community here, especially those in Etobicoke, North York and Scarborough area, are very familiar with our centre and the great number of students, young and old, that have walked through its doors to seek Islamic knowledge.
By the grace of Allah subhanna wa ta'ala we have been serving the Muslim community in the GTA for over 12 years. During this time 70+ students have memorized the Qur'an. The Qur'an is the foundation of what we teach, however we do not separate from the other sciences that a person needs in order to worship Allah azza wa jal properly.
Along with hifdh programs we have offered over 24 seminars on different subjects such as Aqeedah, Tasfeer, Uloomul Hadith, Mannerisms of a student, Tajweed, Seerah among many others.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 all of our classes transitioned on Zoom as did many other institutions around the world.
This meant that our daily hifdh circles, Islamic study seminars and even parent/teacher meetings transitioned online. Despite this shift the on-going monthly expense of over $20,000 in rent and utilities alone remained consistent. Over the years many other establishments in the complex shut down forcing the masjid to accept increased rent or move.
Prior to the pandemic we were happy to continue paying $20,000 monthly because Darul Hikmah was more than just a masjid and islamic centre. It was the second home of hundreds of people. But with the COVID closures the congregation remained at home while our expense continued.
It's with great sadness that on Friday February 19th, 2021 we held our last Khutbatul Jumuah and vacated 36 Colville Ave. We did this with the intention of finding a more suitable location while still serving the needs of the community.
So many lives have transformed through the Qur'an. Our mission to carry its light forward is needed now more than ever. Will you join us in finding a new location?
Allah azza wa jal says in Surah Baqarah:
الَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُم بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ سِرًّا وَعَلَانِيَةً فَلَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ ﴾
Those who spend their wealth [in Allah's way] by night and by day, secretly and publicly - they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve. (2:274)
Help us collect the funds needed for a new Al-Hikmah Center!
What Are These Funds For:
By supporting this campaign you are taking part in a Sadaqat Jaariyyah (on-going charity) for yourself and family. May Allah surprise you with the good deeds that spring from sustaining this project. The funds collected will be used to pay for renovation expenses and/or rent & electricity bills.
The month of Ramadan is upon us and we ask that you give whatever amount you can. Please support us in your duas as well so that He protects our Dawah.
We understand the worldwide impact COVID-19 has had and the uncertainty of our times. We have faith that Allah will help us and we are only making a call to those that want to be part of this Khayr. You will be helping hundreds of people develop a connection with Allah subhanna wa ta'ala.
The promise of Allah is true and He will only increase you in this life and the next for what you give.
