A Burden For Brazil

Oi! Bom Día!

A little over a year ago a simple prayer started the journey I am on today. I simply asked God to direct me to the place that He would want me to go for an AYC trip. Now, let me give you some information. Apostolic Youth Corps (AYC) is a branch of UPCI’s (United Pentecostal Church International) Youth Ministries that facilitates the pairing of ministry-minded Pentecostal students with North American and international sites which need and desire evangelism assistance. Honestly, I prayed blindly. The AYC destination list hadn’t even been released yet. So, when I prayed, I knew if I felt a place to go it had to be from God. Immediately after praying, I felt God speak into my spirit the country of Brazil. So, I continued to pray and couldn’t shake the burden. To show God I was truly committed to doing His Work, I downloaded Duolingo and began to learn Portuguese. The biggest hurdle of all was the fact that Brazil hadn’t been a destination for AYC in two years. That totally stressed me out. My mom asked me, “What happens if they release the list and Brazil isn’t on there?” I was so sure Brazil was the place I was supposed to go that I told her, “If Brazil isn’t on the list, I’m not supposed to go on an AYC trip this year.” A few short days later, the list was released, and second on the list was Sao Paulo, Brazil. It was in that moment that I had no doubt that I was supposed to go to Brazil. As soon as applications opened, I sent it my application. After a grueling week of waiting, my acceptance email came in. I have no doubt that going to Sao Paulo is the Will of God for my life.

While in Brazil, the other AYC students and I will be helping remodel the current church, do street services, feed the hungry, and share the power and truth of God to the Brazilian community. This trip to Brazil is not a vacation, its truly a work for God. I am going with an open heart and open mind to whatever God wants to do in my life. I’m believing it’s going to be a life changing experience!

In preparation I have been filling out all the documents needed, praying, fasting, and now the time has come for the hardest physical part of the process. Fundraising. In all I have to raise $4,000. It will take lots of work and partnership from people like you to make this trip possible. I have payments due in February, March, and April and then my trip begins at the end of May. I’m asking you to join with me in praying, fasting, and financial support as the months leading up to my trip approach. Thank you so much for taking the time to hear my story and my burden for Brazil. I am so excited to see what God has in store for me and the country of Brazil!
