A Call for Support: Honoring a Beloved Father’s Memory

Dear family, friends, and compassionate strangers:

It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of John E. Lewis, affectionately known as John L & Butch, on November 5th, 2024. He was a man of great strength and resilience, a loving father and son, and a cherished friend to many.

Unfortunately, his time with us was cut short due to complications arising from a sacral wound and subsequent sepsis, conditions that we believe were exacerbated by the care he received in a nursing home.

As we navigate this overwhelming period of grief, we are also faced with the practical realities of laying him to rest in a manner that honors his life and legacy. That brings us to the purpose of this gofundme. We are seeking to raise $7,000 to cover the costs associated with his funeral services. This amount will help us provide him with a dignified farewell, allowing us to celebrate his life and the impact he had on all of us.

The nursing home situation has left us not only grieving, but also seeking answers. We believe that every individual deserves to be treated with respect and care, especially in their most vulnerable moments. Our family is committed to advocating for better standards of care, to ensure that no other family has to endure the pain and loss that we have experienced.
