A Call to Help the Bunga Family in Their Time of Need

Have you ever struggled to understand why things happen the way they do?
I don’t know why God hasn’t healed Janette, a godly Christian mother of two beautiful children and wife of Arnold Bunga.
My wife, Liana, and I were blessed to meet the Bunga family years ago while serving in China. They opened their home to us, graciously letting us stay in their bedroom while they and their children slept in the living room. Later, we reconnected with them in Indonesia, where they had returned to their home country.
Six years ago, Janette was diagnosed with breast cancer, and a few years later, the cancer spread to her lungs, liver, lymph nodes, and brain. Over the past two years, she has endured numerous doctor visits, chemotherapy, and countless treatments. Sadly, her condition is now rapidly deteriorating. Through it all, Arnold has tirelessly supported his wife and cared for their two young boys, William and Joaquin, while managing the stress of hospital visits and sleepless nights.
Despite the heavy burden, Arnold’s faith in God remains strong, and I take comfort knowing that Janette has made peace with God, even reaching out to those she has wronged. The Bible assures us that “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints” (Psalm 116:15), so I find peace knowing Janette's heart is right with God.
But my greatest concern now is for their boys, William (12) and Joaquin (9), who will likely grow up without their mother. I can’t help but think of how they must be struggling with the question: “Why didn’t God heal my mom?” William, who recently shared a devotional at school, broke down as he said, “I don’t know why God doesn’t heal my mother.” His words brought tears to the eyes of everyone in the room.
Imagine being a child, losing your mother, and wrestling with such a heavy question.
I know the devil is whispering lies to these precious boys, telling them that God doesn’t care. But I want them to know that God loves them deeply and will take care of them until that day He comes to take us all home.
In prayer this morning, God laid it on my heart to start a GoFundMe campaign to help ease the financial burden Arnold is facing. Due to hospital visits and treatments, he is now $15,000 in debt and urgently needs $3,000 to cover an overdue insurance payment.
The Bible says, “He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, and He will repay what he has given” (Proverbs 19:17). In light of this, I ask you to help us raise $20,000 to clear Arnold’s debt and provide a cushion for the family’s future needs.
This family is in need, and your generosity will not only provide them with financial relief but will also be a reminder that God sees our pain and provides for us through each other.
Please join me in lifting the Bunga family up in their time of need. If you are able to give, I know that God will bless you and repay you for your kindness.
