A callout for Kodi
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Adams. I'm Kodi's dad and we're here because we need your help.
First understand that Kodi is a dog that knew nothing but love. I personally trained her from 6 weeks old and I showed her nothing but love so that's all she knew. She played with kids, kittens, puppies, adults, pretty much anyone she could see as a friend. Except trash bags and brooms, she thought they were the devil. Watching this little bundle of love grow up has been one my life's greatest joys.
While we're not sure why it happened, Kodi looks to have suffered neurological damage after digesting something toxic.
She was continously vomitting for 4-5 days straight and by the time she stopped, she started to exhibit behaviour that was uncharacteristic. She stopped wanting to go anywhere and her tail was tucked between her legs. Whenever she walked, she would only go to the right unless I pushed her head to the left until her direction was straightened.
I rushed to the Vet but they stated she wasn't putting weight on her back leg thinking she was hurt and sent us home with arthritis pills. That same night she had an episode at 6am where I found her letting out a low continuous groan and when I got to her, her eyes were rapidly moving side to side and she seemed to not be able to see me. I grabbed her and ran downstairs and momentarily placed her down to get my car keys and she tipped over as she could not tell which way was up. This was a very traumatizing event for all parties because me and my wife have never experienced this before.
I took Kodi to a different vet that had a nuerological team in place even though they were unavailable. The staff let me know that this looks like Vestibular disease and we moved with that treatment plan. This took place 3 days ago.
What was once diagnosed as Vestibular disease, it's now looking more like she's had a stroke as she's losing mobility and function day by day. The veterenarian team informed me that if an MRI was taken, we can conclusively determine the state she's in.
That's where we need your help.
The MRI costs $6000. As much as we've tried, we just don't have enough to cover the costs.
I'm humbly requesting help so it's ok if you do not donate, I understand it's not the world's place to save us. But in the event that you can, we appreciate your support so much and if you can't, that's perfectly fine! Your support is needed as well if you could just please hear her story and share. We would like to reach out to everyone for some assistance as this means a lot to us.
Me and my wife do not have kids so Kodi really is our only child and we're trying to do everything in our power to see her get better.
As it stands, she is not able to walk on her own, I carry her in and out of the house. Side note: I love the fact that her home training is still intact as she will wait until I get her outside to go. She seems to only be able to go to the right whenever we try to allow the freedom to walk but she needs a leg or two, or something to lean on, on her side to keep her upright. I haven't seen her wag her tail or so much as bark in the past week.
If she's suffered something that is unrecoverable... I don't want to think that way so we want to be 100% sure of what her current condition is. That's why we need this MRI done as soon as possible.
Thank you for listening to our story and I will keep everyone updated with her condition as we try to get my baby back to her normal joyful self.
Edit: Below, I wanted to share a few of the lives she's touched since she's been brought into ours.
