A chance for Chonky
Donation protected
At 11 weeks old, Chonky was in danger of being euthanized over a suspected eyelid issue. A kind-hearted transporter acted quickly to bring him up in February and we made it our mission to find this sweet nugget of a puppy a loving home. He had trial runs but could not find the right fit and thus remained in my care for several months. As he went through growth spurts we realized he had brachiocephalic syndrome, as so many bulldog breeds sadly do. I took him to half a dozen veterinarians collecting advice and opinions and it became clear that he would need surgical intervention to have any kind of life quality. He is so deserving of life!!! With oodles of personality and comedic sweetness, he handled every challenge like a champ...including traveling with me 6,000 miles getting medication four times a day and surviving what we suspect was a collapsed trachea. He accrued a hefty fan base going with me to the gym and learning how to be a Cape Cod dog - making friends, enjoying car rides, even learning to paddle board; but his restricted breathing made it unsafe for him to get his exercise and play freely. He has so much energy! He wants to chase his frisbee and jump and do all the things!
After some time, he found his forever home with two fantastic humans who understand his challenges and fell in love with him anyway. They are ready to provide him a wonderful life, but we need help getting him over this surgical hurdle.
I'm so grateful that the Universe put him in my path and further grateful to the many extended foster family members who have played a role in his success thus far. He really is a very special boy!
In good faith I have him scheduled for surgery in a couple weeks and I'm asking humbly for your financial generosity, along with your energies of healing and wellness for this sweet little dude.
Thank you so much!!!
