A Cure for Jess - Hope in California

Donation protected
Jess; our inquisitive, wild one with his infectious laugh and unique interests. Always striving to understand how this world works. With a heart full of curiosity and a love for all creatures, big and small. Jess fearlessly tackles life head on (often with a spider hidden in his pocket.) He remains a beacon of resilience, despite having gone through more pain and fear than any child should ever have to endure.

Living with lung disease and severe allergic eosinophilic asthma, Jess has been hospitalised over 50 times; requiring breathing support when he catches the common cold. He also has a life threatening allergic response to cow's milk. The slightest trace of the allergen from other children’s sticky hands or contaminated kitchen surface could be fatal. This turns ordinary places like school, playgrounds, and even family gatherings into potential danger zones.

Up until last month, we were told that there was no cure for Jess. On Jess’s 7th birthday, this February, he had to be injected with adrenaline after his body started shutting down as a response to cross contamination at his own birthday party.

We all live every second with one thought hanging over us; “How much more can his little body take?”

But hope emerged when we discovered a groundbreaking medical facility in California; The Food Allergy Institute. The only facility in the whole world able to cure severe food anaphylaxis. They have cured 8,000 children with similar conditions, granting them the freedom to enjoy food without fear. Their reliance on breathing equipment has also been seen to reduce significantly. With an astounding success rate of 99%, this institute offers Jess the promise of a brighter, healthier future.

The road to recovery comes at a cost – an estimated £85,000 for treatment and travel expenses. Despite the financial burden, we will get Jess the cure and the life he so deserves.

This newfound hope not only offers Jess the chance to live without constant fear of his next trip to the intensive care unit from hidden traces of food. It gives his brothers; Jude and Jayde a life away from waking up in the night to paramedics rushing their big brother into another ambulance and the harrowing scenes of watching their parents save his life.

It's a gift of life and freedom that we cherish beyond words. We are profoundly grateful for any support in raising funds for Jess’s treatment and look forward to celebrating his “Food Freedom” at one massive party with you all in a few years time.

For the first time ever we are allowing ourselves to believe our precious boy will not be cruelly snatched away from us.

 There is hope in California.
