A Doctor's Evacuation: Helping a Family Find Peace
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
I write to share the story of a steadfast man, a fellow doctor, and a brave soul fighting for the well-being of his family in what is left in war-torn Gaza. For him and his family's safety, he will be anonymous in my letter. Let me codename him Hakeem, an Arabic nickname for doctor (literally translates to wise man).
Fresh out of medical school, Hakeem was fueled with limitless ambition and dedication to curve his path in this troubled world of ours. When the war unfolded, he was at the frontlines serving humanity being personified in the people of Gaza. Without any regard to his personal safety, volunteering restlessly for four months under conditions you can’t even begin to imagine. He witnessed horrors that no human should endure. Yet Hakeem continued to serve, driven by his duty to heal.
Hakeem and his family were forcibly displaced four times, cheating death, or even worse, with each inhumane displacement leaving deeper scars. His home, once filled with memories, is now a pile of rubble. His neighborhood, once familiar streets pulsing with life, is now a wasteland of shattered buildings and broken walls. Memories, possessions, and the very foundation of their lives were ripped away. Hakeem’s family was left with nothing but the trauma etched into their very being. Survival, not just physically but also emotionally, has become their primary struggle.
I'm reaching out to you in this desperate hour. I seek your support for Hakeem and his family, consisting of eight souls, to find temporary safety and solace in Egypt until they situation allows returning to Gaza. Crossing the border to Egypt comes at a brutal price and with need of great humanitarian aid: $10,000/ person; $80,000 in total, and adding $5000 for their traveling and staying expenses, is indeed beyond the capacity of this war-torn family who is teetering on the edge. It is only with our solidarity and support that we can lend a helping hand to Hakeem and his family; a tribute to the Gaza families who have endured the unimaginable, a small token of appreciation for their steadfastness and resolve on behalf of all humanity. Once we have gathered the funds, it will be transferred to a trusted source in Egypt who will help in the process of evacuating Hakeem and his family.
This is not about fleeing conflict; believe me, they wouldn't leave if they had any other option. It's about offering a family a temporary lifeline, a chance to remain present. Every contribution, no matter how small, is a beacon of hope in this darkest of hours.
Share their story, spread the word, and let's help them find safety until they can go back to Gaza.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Hakeem's friends
