A Donation In Her Name

The question of what to get mom for Christmas this year, holds a different meaning for our family. See, around the beginning of June, our family’s path changed. We were diverted toward a new and different path that reminded us of the value of time, love, family and friendship. The new journey has started new friendships and sparked old friendships. It has reminded us of the importance of community and the people and places that build our community. It has reminded us to live in the moment and appreciate the feelings that friendship, family, and community can bring. In June of this year, our mother, Martha Drociak was diagnosed with incurable pancreatic cancer.
Mom, she is a warrior. This being her third bout with this nasty disease, she knew what she was up against and she stepped into warrior mode upon delivery of the news. She is a warrior of inward and outward strength. Her foundation is built on faith, an unwavering faith that keeps her grounded, helps guide her and gives her hope. She wakes up every day literally fighting for her life, and she does it with the utmost class and grace. She is an inspiration to her family. While this new journey brings lots of doctor’s visits, treatments, hard days, and tough conversations, it also gives us time to celebrate our mom. This is where you all come in.
Through her passion of gardening, several years ago, mom began volunteering with a gardening program at the local library. The Children’s Community Garden is a program in her community of Strafford, NH. This program provides hands on educational and social-emotional programming to children in the community so that they may impact their community positively through multi-generational relationships sharing knowledge of agriculture, horticulture, and permaculture.
Mom hasn’t been able to find her way back to the community children’s garden since her diagnosis. So, for Christmas this year, we thought the best present we could bring her was a donation in her name to this program that means so much to her. By setting up this gofundme, her family hopes that those who have crossed paths with our mom, will help support her in this journey by donating money that will be gifted to the Community Children’s Garden.
Too often messages honoring our loved ones come too late. This Christmas present allows people to honor our mom, share messages of hope, and ultimately donate to help support a cause close to her heart.
