A families love, loss, legacy, and hardship
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alexis and I am fundraising for my family and the loss of my father Jason Swanson.
Jason Swanson passed away on January 27, 2022, after a brief illness at the age of 47. He was a third-generation dairy farmer dedicated to the passion and hard work only a farmer can truly appreciate. To
compound the grief of losing this husband, father, and son the milk house to the farm Jason loved caught fire the night before his death. The fire caused significant damage to the structure.
Now left to carry on are his wife, a breast cancer survivor; his children: triplet girls age 21 currently attending Wilson College, and his 18-year-old son. His son Jake will be a 4th generation dairy farmer taking on the responsibility of the 200 cow dairy farm without the father and mentor he dreamed of working with for many years to come. Unfortunately, this was not God’s plan.
His parents, who started the farm initially with 6 cows also survive. The years of hard work on the farm have left Jason’s father (Jake’s grandfather) no longer able to carry out many of the difficult and rigorous chores required on the farm. Jake’s grandfather will be an incredible mentor to guide young Jake as he undertakes the responsibility of carrying on the legacy of the farm.
The community of family, friends, and farmers have come together to help the family with their support. Some have arrived at the farm at 5 am to help Jake with chores. They return in the evening, after completing their own farm chores, to again help Jake. They say a farmers clock in at 5 am but never clocks out. The entire family is forever grateful for all who have and continue to help in these difficult days following Jason’s death.
Donations will help the family as they try to sustain the farm and allow the children’s lives to move forward. The loss of Jason and his income will have significant financial implications for the family. The triplet girls plan to continue their education at Wilson college, but the financial debt is a concern. Jake, a young man of 18, will require employed support for the farm to sustain. His maternal grandmother continues to work full time to support the two families and the farm. For those who chose to donate, your generosity is so greatly appreciated. We, as a family, feel humbled by the request, we are still yet unaware of the medical expenses that have accrued.
There is no greater loss than that of someone we love.
To Jason, the Farm was more than a business.
The Family Farm was a lifestyle of hard work and dedication and
it is a lifestyle worth preserving.
