Hazie’s Journey

My name is Reid, my daughter, Makenzie gave birth to my beautiful grand-daughter, Hazie at just 26 weeks. She was born on 5/24/23 with a due date of 8/25/23. She was only 1lb 5oz. She was then diagnosed with Chronic Lung Disease, Pulmonary Hypertension, and an Atrial Septal Defect all from being born premature. She has had to endure a trach which was placed on 10/16/23. She is still at Levines Children Hospital with a proposed date of discharge being 12/13/23, that will be 203 days spent in the NICU. While Hazie has been in Levines, Mackenzie and Shane have had to juggle an array of obstacles. They both have had to spend many nights and days away from home and work to stay in the Ronald McDonald house, especially when things were critical. Being a parent, seeing your child go through so much with your grand-baby you tend to feel helpless. The last thing they should be worried about is medical bills pilling up. While we are all preparing for Christmas, the only thing we want is for our Hazie girl to finally be home.
