A Family's Loss - A Community's Tragedy
Donation protected
On Sunday, February 3, 2019 Zay'quan Wheeler, age 14, of Trenton, NJ slipped into the icy Delaware and Raritan Canal located in Cadwalader Park chasing after his favorite basketball and passed away on Monday, February 4th.
So it's with profound sadness that the family must lay Zay'quan to rest. The family would like to ask the community to help ease the burden of the funeral expenses by kindly making a monetary donation.
Zay'quan will always be remembered for his unforgettable smile and his ability to entertain others. Dancing since he was a toddler, he performed in many school programs and was the life of every party- especially family functions. He aspired to be a basketball player and participate in the Olympics. Last spring he joined the track team where he grew to be a force on the team. For the first time after two years of trying out, he finally made the middle school basketball team. Zay'quan was also an excellent baseball player as a member of the West Ward Little League.
Zayquan is the only child of his mother, Ebonika, so we can understand this loss is extremely devastating. He is also the eldest grandson of Carol Funchess, his maternal grandmother.
The family would like to thank the police and fire emergency response teams, the medical professionals at Capital Health Fuld Campus, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the City of Trenton, and Joyce Kilmer Middle School where Zay'quan attended from Pre School through his current 8th grade. He is sorely missed by his family, friends, team mates, and his classmates.
The family thanks everyone in advance for your contributions.
