A fathers loss of home by devastating house fire

Hi,

We are the daughters of Shane who sadly lost his home tonight from a devastating house fire in Holmview. We received a call that our dad’s house was on fire and our initial fear was that our dad was inside. We are so relieved that he was not home at the time the fire started due to a gas leak. It has been said by those who witnessed the scene that the gas then just erupted the house into flames and once we arrived at the scene to the damage it was truly heartbreaking.

Seeing our dad watch his house that he has spent so many years working on burning down in front of him was so hard for us.

He has lost everything. Everything of value that our dad owned was in that house. He is a man who puts his blood, sweat and tears into so many projects and some of those projects are what help him earn an income. He is a man with many talents that he puts to good use to help him earn a bit of extra money as he no longer can work in his previous job as a spray painter due to limited lung capacity from health conditions. All the beautiful furniture he has built, all his tools that he uses to do various handyman/carpentry/landscape jobs and all of our childhood photos and valuables are gone.

When we seen the footage of the inside of the house that the fireman took it was gut wrenching. It didn’t even look like the same house. We could tell our dad was struggling to come to terms with what has happened and how he is going to move past this.

Sadly our dad did not have comprehensive insurance to cover for a house fire. This means the house that he had nearly paid off is gone and he has no money to start over again. He has lost clothes, valuables, tools, furniture, food, photos, gadgets, medication needed for his health, the list goes on but the most impactful thing is he has lost a roof over his head. He has lost his home.
