A female chiropractor in need of some help
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Paige Olson and I'm posting this on behalf of my friend and fellow female chiropractor, Shannon Lasure. Shannon and I went to high school and undergraduate school together. We both ultimately ended up going to chiropractic school but at different locations.
Dr. Shannon is 29 years old, a mother of two little boys, and a wife. She is also 19 weeks pregnant with her third child. Shannon is a female chiropractor who practices in La Crosse, WI. She graduated from Life University in 2019.
While practicing, Shannon passed out, hit her head, and was not acting normally. She was sent to the hospital where they found a 2x3-inch brain mass. Shannon had emergency brain surgery to have it removed.
After surgery, Shannon was given the news that the mass was cancerous and an aggressive form. Her diagnosis was oligodendroglioma which is a rare type of brain cancer. Her oncologist told her that type of cancer is classified in phases 1-4, and she is believed to be in stage 3.
Shannon's bright news is that although her pregnancy is now high-risk, she does not have to terminate her pregnancy.
Shannon is unable to continue practicing for the foreseeable future. She is making plans to start radiation. Her husband had to quit his job to stay home and care for Shannon and their children.
As chiropractors, we can probably all agree that our benefits aren't great. In addition, we cannot work light duty or choose to work from home. Shannon needs financial help. She has a small fundraiser set up by family and friends, but frankly, it's not enough.
I'm hoping we can all relate to the difficulties that come with choosing this profession and the lack of benefits we have when things like this happen. If anyone would be willing to donate to help Shannon and her family, it would genuinely make a huge difference in their lives. Please say a prayer for Shannon and her family if you cannot donate.
Thank you so much for your time reading Shannon's story.
