A final resting place for Ronald

Donation protected
At 4:48 am on July 8th, 2023 I received a call from my cousin with devastating news. Her son was viciously attacked the night before on his way home and was found on the wayside in front of a church unconscious. His mother and other family members raced to his side, never imagining the horror that awaits us for the next couple of days. We arrived at the hospital to soon realize that Ronald was in really bad shape. His face and head were swollen so much so to the point that he hardly looked like himself and he was not breathing on his own. The doctors said that his brain had shifted and he might not make it. Not for once did our family accept this as being the end for Ronald. We envisioned him waking pretty soon and walking out of the hospital, conquering that brutal attack. Hope was burning brightly and was reinforced when Ronald’s mom told him that she wasn’t leaving until he told her back that he loved her. At that point, Ronald moved both of his feet in response to her. We know that he was fighting and not giving up. This tiny sign from Ronald encouraged us to continue to do all we can to save his life, prayers were consistent and fervent. On Sunday a neurologist was flown into the Island to insert a tube into his head to drain fluids that were accumulating. The surgery was a success and hope was still going strong although we were warned that the next couple of hours are critical. Monday at about 11 am I received another call from my cousin saying the hospital called and Ronald is not doing well. We all rushed to the hospital still believing that things are going to turn around and making plans for Ronald when he walks out of that hospital. At approximately 3:50 pm the nurse came to inform us that for the last fifteen minutes, Ronald had no pulse and all attempts to resuscitate him had failed. The pain I saw in his fifteen years old brother’s eyes was unbearable. The screams of his mother on hearing that she has just lost her firstborn son is a sound I would never forget. Words cannot describe the blanket of pain that is covering our family at this time. Our family is struggling to bury Ronald as this was so unexpected. Please donate anything you can, every dollar and cents count. Please keep our family in your prayers during this unimaginable time.
