A Firefighter’s Battle

Hi, my name is Jonathan and I am fundraising for my father Ron Martinez. Please help a retired Bernalillo County Firefighter in his fight against cancer.

Ron Martinez devoted his life to the care and safety of others. He started as a volunteer in his teens, moving up to dispatch, and became a firefighter with Bernalillo County Fire Department. Ron spent 20 plus years with the department and later retired as a lieutenant with the Bernalillo County Fire Department. Ron was founder of Bernalillo County Fire Department Retirees Association. He started fundraisers and helped to raise money for the Bernalillo County Fire Department Retirees Association, but his services didn’t stop there. He joined the peer support team, Behind the Badge New Mexico. Ron helped others like himself and their families through the psychological trauma as a result of their work.

 

Ron has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This is one of many aggressive cancers that requires combative treatment. Ron must battle his way through the flames but this time with us by his side. We are asking for help to raise funds to send Ron to a treatment center in Phoenix Arizona. Your donations will not only help with the cost of treatment, but also travel expenses, food, lodging, and recovery. We appreciate any donations you can give to help Ron win his battle and enjoy the life in retirement he has earned.
