A Fresh Start for Jessie and her Kids
Donation protected
This fundraiser is for a single Black mother of two young children, working full-time in healthcare during the pandemic, and going through a difficult and protracted separation. Due to a number of experiences and circumstances that have occurred since the separation, that leave her concerned about what is in the best interests of her young children, Jessie has had to retain a lawyer.
The separation has become extremely acrimonious, and as the primary caregiver for her six and three year old, Jessie has been experiencing significant financial challenges. Funds are needed for Jessie to be able to continue to meet the needs of her family, and to continue to work with her supportive lawyer (who is currently working at a discounted fee due to the circumstances of the situation). Jessie has spent several thousand dollars of her own money to date, and anticipates mounting court costs in the upcoming months, as a separation agreement is finalized.
All money raised will be immediately used to cover essential needs, and court/ legal fees. Once the separation agreement and divorce are finalized, any remaining funds would go to outstanding debt for student loans, the family vehicle, or alternately into an education fund for her children.
The trauma, fear, and stress of this separation have been significant for Jessie during this already brutal pandemic year, but she has continued to show up for her children and for her patients every day. Jessie is an incredibly dedicated and compassionate mother, social worker, and friend, who is always there to support others no matter what is going on in her life. Those who know her know what an amazing and special person she truly is, and that she would do the same for anyone going through a challenging time. Let’s please take the additional stress of unknown and rapidly mounting separation-related expenses off of her plate, so that Jessie can continue to advocate for the well-being of her children and not have to compromise on what she knows is in their best interest.
