Fund$ for Karen's Medical expenses
Donation protected
As a friend of Karen's I am starting this fundraiser with hopes of diminishing all or some of her, and her spouse's, financial burden.
Karen was in Nashville when she suffered from Transient Global Amnesia. After being rushed to the hospital the Doctor determined there was evidence of an old stroke, an arachnoidal cyst, and a brain aneurysm. From the cost of procedures, to travel for treatment, to lost wages; I am trying to raise 20k for the costs endured thus far, to ease the financial burden, so they can focus their energy on Karen healing. On Tuesday she will undergo Endovascular Coiling, and a Stent placement at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA. There will be more treatments, procedures, and maybe more surgeries. For this reason I may increase the goal for this fundraiser.
Originally from Maryland, Karen has lived in New York, CA, NC, and now lives in Savannah, GA with her wife Corey. Karen has a Masters in Art Psychotherapy from NYU (where she graduated with a 3.8 gpa, I might add). She has paintings in private collections around the country; including the Museum of Living Artists in California. She has been involved in many fundraisers throughout her years; to help her community, to help her friends.. She currently works rehabilitating people who struggle with addiction. She has counseled children, who were victims of abuse, while they made their way through our court systems. She once joined me in South Carolina to protest the kkk...The list could go on and on. Karen is a very special woman. Anyone who knows her will attest to how warm, loving, and genuine she is. Her laughter alone is worth millions.
To quote someone who loves her most:
"She is the single most intelligent, kindest, most generous, curious, avid reading, open hearted, wisdom filled, thoughtful, hysterical, talented human being I've ever known. She deserves the world." -Corey
I agree. She does deserve the world. Please help if you can.
Due to cash donations we lowered the goal to 18k, as 2k has been given in cash thus far. Thank you all so much!!!
