Cassandra's Surgery - Large Ovarian Cyst Removal
Donation protected
Dear family, friends, and compassionate souls:
My beloved wife, Cassandra Baldovinos, has been facing an incredibly challenging battle with a cystadenoma, a large, benign mass that has taken over more than 90% of her abdomen. Our journey began without insurance in early 2023 with an ER visit, thinking it was appendicitis. At the time, the mass was less than a few centimeters. In our search for alternative, holistic approaches, we hoped to find a way to dissolve the cyst naturally, avoiding the financial burden of expensive surgery.
As time marched on, the mass and Cassandra's physical pain continued to grow, leaving us with no choice but to consider surgery as the only viable option. We secured insurance coverage through the Marketplace, which will begin on February 1st. The surgery is slated to be scheduled for some time in February, barring any issues with insurance, and it's not just any surgery – it's a complete abdominal procedure versus the less invasive laparoscopic surgery to remove significantly smaller cysts.
Cassandra's case is far from typical. Per the CT scan from our recent ER visit, her cyst is now over (and continuing to grow) 26cm x 16cm x 26cm (roughly 10 x 6 inches), making it a complex and intricate procedure. Due to the extensive nature of her surgery, we are faced with significantly higher out-of-pocket expenses. The gynecologist/oncologist has opted for a full abdominal procedure to ensure the mass remains intact versus draining it for further analysis and to rule out Cancer.
We're reaching out to you, humbly and with immense gratitude, to request your support in helping us meet the overwhelming medical expenses that our insurance won't fully cover. These include the upfront out-of-pocket costs of the surgical procedure, the necessary medications, and the extensive recovery process.
Now, we turn to our community's generosity and compassion in our time of need. No matter how small, every contribution will significantly impact our journey towards Cassandra's healing.
Your support will not only alleviate the financial burden but also provide us with the peace of mind needed to focus entirely on her recovery from this extensive surgery. We are immensely grateful for any assistance you can offer and for being a part of this crucial chapter in Cassandra's life.
