A glimmer of hope: support Shimaa and her education
Donation protected
My name is Genavieve White, living in Chicago, in the United States, and have been in in contact with Shimaa and some of her siblings since April.
Even though they have been displaced three times since October, and lost everything, Shimaa is always looking to the future, and planning how to help her family.
As a university senior, Shimaa plans to use donations to finish her degree online, and needs a solar panel power bank to secure electricity. Donations will also go to daily expenses for survival, and evacuating when the border opens.
Please read Shimaa’s story, and help her have the life she deserves by donating or sharing this campaign
“Together, we can turn hope into reality, making education accessible to all even in the most difficult circumstances.
Share my story and dream with the world and help me.”
from Shimaa:
Hello, I am Shimaa Mohammed from Gah zah, Pal es tine, and I would like to share my story and ask you for help in times of distress. I've always had big dreams and ambitions. I was about to graduate from university, and I dreamed of becoming a computer engineer and professional success. But in one moment the war changed everything and broke my dreams.
On a tragic day, the war completely destroyed my family home, something I still don't believe. My eight family members and I were forced to leave everything we had. We had to move from our home in Shujaiya to a school in Tel el-Hawa. After a week of fear, anxiety and bombing next to us, we were once again displaced to Nuseirat, where we stayed in another school, in a class of about 50 relatives for three months. The area was not safe, as we were witnessing shelling, killing and destruction around us. Shelling, constant stun grenades and suffocating gas bombs, especially at night, have forced us to displace again, this time to Deir al-Balah.
There, we had to sleep in the open for the first two nights as we collected and bought tent supplies. Now that four months have passed in the wretched tent, we have experienced extreme winter cold, extreme summer heat and lack of basic feasibility.
Living in the tent is very difficult. The 4x3 meter tent is our kitchen and bedroom simultaneously. We sleep so glued together that we can't move our bodies. We miss privacy and security, and we have to stand in long lines to use a mixed bathroom. At the height of summer, we set fire to cooking food, most of our meals consist of heating a canned or baking on a clay oven. These difficult circumstances made every day a struggle for survival.
Recently, I heard about the opportunity to complete my education eight months after the war. Although war continues and devours human beings and stone, I refuse to surrender to circumstances. Education is my only hope for change. I need your help to provide appropriate learning Suitable.
My plan is to buy a solar panel and educational materials that will help me pursue my studies and work remotely.
How donations will be used:
-Buy solar power panel to save electricity.
-Provide the necessary teaching materials.
-Supporting my basic needs in these difficult circumstances.
-In addition, if the crossing is opened and travel coordination costs decrease, I plan to travel to gain practical experience and repatriate to contribute to its construction and development.
With your support, you can be part of my journey towards realizing my dreams and changing my life for the better. You will contribute to building my future and give me hope for a better tomorrow. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a big difference.
I invite you all to donate and participate in this campaign. Every contribution is important and makes a difference in my life. I would be grateful for your support and confidence in my ability to succeed. Together, we can turn hope into reality, making education accessible to all even in the most difficult circumstances.
Share my story and dream with the world and help me.
Thank you again, and I am waiting for your generous support and valuable cooperation.
With best regards
Shimaa Mohammed
