Mental Health challenges are a silent battle fought by 1 out of 5 people in the United States. This is more than a simple statistic, but rather a shared struggle faced by countless individuals across the country and around the world.
As someone who has suffered from generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and panic disorder (PD) for over 10 years, I know firsthand the serious impact these conditions have on one's academic, social, and athletic life. Thankfully, I have never walked my mental health journey alone. Access to counselors and therapists has allowed me to progress far toward healing. As I prepare to graduate this Spring with a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, I acknowledge that I would not be where I am today without this support. The personal growth I have experienced is a testament to the positive impact these resources have made in my life.
I am truly grateful for these resources, but many people are not as fortunate to have access to such mental health resources. These resources are crucial to the positive development and future success of individuals. That is why on April 13th, 2024, I will be running the Notre Dame Holy Half Marathon to raise money for mental health awareness & resources, intending to support existing and future programs.
My charity of choice is the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI), an organization that focuses on supporting those who suffer from mental illness so they can live healthy and fulfilling lives. Money raised will help this organization further these initiatives by supporting those who suffer from mental illness while also educating others on how to help those who need their support. Your donations could go a long way to support individuals and their families so that all can live a life free from the burden of mental health disorders.
100% of contributions to this fundraiser will be donated to NAMI for charity. I will also personally be making up the difference for all transactional fees paid to GoFundMe (i.e. I will cover the 2.9% transaction fee). All support is welcome. Thank you & God Bless!
