A hand UP for Donna! (Please read to the end!)

Hi! My name is Denise Sullivan. Many years ago a wonderful, fun young woman named Donna (Baker) Steigleder came into my life. Although she lives in West Virginia and I live in Nebraska, our friendship has grown and remained strong thru the years. Unfortunately, Donna has faced numerous health challenges since she was in her 20's. When we met she'd already had part of a lung removed due to cancer. At one point sepsis nearly took her life. She had a heart attack at 47 and another a few years ago. She has two stents in her heart, however early last year doctors recommended open heart surgery which she had in March 2021. During the surgery Donna had a stroke, resulting in severe vision loss in her right eye and weakening of her right side. About 20 years ago, she also developed Type 1 Diabetes, which in recent years has led to neuropathy (numbness) in her feet resulting in a very unsteady gait and clumsiness. Several months ago, while showering the hospital, she fell and broke her left wrist and fractured her back. She also has cataracts, which prohibit her driving, especially at night. Doctors recently diagnosed her with blockages in her subclavian and cardioid arteries which will need to be resolved.

Her home is old and in a very rural area of WV. It is impossible for her to maintain by herself. Her car isn't drivable and she has no transportation to doctor's appointments, etc. Her phone/internet will be shut off later this week, leaving her with no way to even call for help or find resources.

She is finally getting food stamps, but rarely eats so food isn't really a concern for her. She is hoping for some type of settlement from the hospital as a result of her fall there, but that will be far down the road. She has a Disability hearing in March and, God willing, she will be approved!

Currently Donna has absolutely NO money coming in.

Donna is in a pit, to say the least. It's only her faith in God and support network of friends that have kept her going this far. We can each only do so much to help her, but I'm hoping that we can come together to show her God's love and give her a hand up when she so desperately needs it!
