Help with enrolment fee for David’s new career

Hello everyone! My name is David and I have chosen to use GoFundMe as a platform to try and raise $620 to start my new career as a Construction Craft Worker with LIUNA 506.

After 18 years of working in the contract security industry, I decided to take the opportunity to attend an 8 week unpaid Apprenticeship Training Program to work towards a career in construction and strive for a better future for my family. I paid the initial $420 enrolment fee and work my last day with my previous employer on June 10, 2022.

On June 13, 2022, I attended my first day of class on this journey into a new career at the ripe young age of 43 years young. I applied for Employment Insurance on June 14,2022 to supplement my income while attending my 8 week unpaid Apprenticeship Training and that where the road started to get rocky.

Today on August 5, 2022, my Employment Insurance claim is still under review and my 8 week Apprenticeship Training Course has been completed. I passed my course with a 92% and praise from the various instructors who had supported me along this journey. Needless to say, surging 8 weeks with no income has been hard but I never made any excuses or allowed anything to prevent me from achieving my goal to be the best in my class and start working towards a better future for my family.

However, even after all of the hard work up to this point, I have come up short. I need to pay the remaining $620 for Union Enrolment fees, that includes 3 months of Union dues, before I can be dispatched to one of the many employers seeking competent, hard working apprentices. This is what has brought me to GoFundMe. I’m not trying to raise money for the outstanding bills or late payments that have accumulated over the past 8 weeks while Employment Insurance takes their sweet time doing their thing. I simply want to complete my enrolment with LIUNA 506 so I can start working and applying the skills that I have worked so hard developing over the last 8 weeks during my Apprenticeship Training.

Any help for this cause would be greatly appreciated and if you can’t show any support financially, I would still like to thank you for taking the time to read my story. The story of a nice guy who left a job to pursue a career but became a victim of a bureaucratic system.
