A heart for Tyler ❤️

Dearest Friends,
As many of you know, my husband, Tyler Chavez, was recently diagnosed with Severe Heart Failure and is currently hospitalized at INOVA Fairfax and under constant medical supervision to keep him alive. Tyler has been incredibly brave on this harrowing journey, which has only just begun.
While we are unsure as to the true causes of his condition, we are optimistic and hopeful with his treatment plan and the expertise of his medical team.
Due to his rapidly declining condition, as of today (May 25th), Tyler has been placed on the heart transplant list as “Status One,” meaning that Tyler is the highest priority for any acceptable donor. There is a possibility that Tyler could receive a heart tomorrow or in a month or more, though we are cautiously optimistic at the expediency of a match.
Tyler’s doctors have given us a broad overview of the plan of treatment and recovery. While we remain hopeful, we are unclear as to the scope of time or care that Tyler will need to: remain in hospital, receive a heart, recuperate in hospital, and undergo further full-time professional care and monitoring at home.
As I am sure you can imagine, we had not planned for this moment and were blindsided by the diagnosis.
Many of you have asked how you can help, and dear friends have suggested a GoFundMe page. While we are fortunate to have savings and generous support and benefits from our employers, the extensive short-term and long-term cost of care is daunting and poses a potentially significant gap from our savings and insurance coverage. Added to that, we both will have to take off lengthy time from work. So despite our apprehensions, we are following the recommendation to launch this page.
We are incredibly fortunate for the support of our families, friends and employers and so grateful for your love and concern as we navigate this uncertain future. You are all so very dear to our hearts.
All of Our Love.
